Some of the JayWay team got together for a mid-season meetup by Lake Balaton in Hungary earlier this month. Balaton is Central Europe’s largest freshwater lake and covers an area of 229 square miles, though it’s also very shallow, with an average depth of 3.2m/10ft, meaning it heats up quite quickly. Basing ourselves at Balatonfüred on the Northern shore, the meetings and workshop sessions were broken up with a little exploration of the lake, as well as some grilling in the evenings. We managed to get out on the lake twice, the first time on a sailboat – and even took a dip in the milky (but perfectly safe, the skipper assured us) water. The next day a few of us took a ferry to the picturesque village of Tihany, where there is a Benedictine Abbey set high up on a hill overlooking the lake. Below is the photoset from the trip that we’ve shared on Flickr.
