Fall Festivals in Budapest

Published , by

Palinka Fest 2012In Budapest it seems there’s always a festival of some kind going on. In the autumn months they’re a bit more spaced out but if you happen to be in town when one is on, it’s worth getting down there to check it out. And if your visiting before mid September, make sure to read our Summer Budapest festivals post for details of the can’t miss Budapest Wine Festival.

Here’s our pick of the fall 2013 festivals in Budapest…

Sweet Days Chocolate and Candy Festival 20-22 September 2013

Taking place at the Millenaris in Buda (marker A on the map), over three days, promises a feast of chocolate and sweets. With almost 100 exhibitors from the Hungarian confectionary scene and well known international brands this is one event that the sweet-toothed would be loathe to miss.

Palinka & Sausage Festival 4-7 October 2013

Hungary is renowned for the quality and variety of its palinka – translated as brandy, made from a mash of ripe fruits. What better to pair it with than some classic Hungarian spicy sausage? And where better to enjoy them than Buda Castle (marker B on the map)?

Café Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival 11-20 October 2013

A 10 day festival of contemporary dance, music and theatre. What more could the arts buff want for? At the time of writing venue and program details weren’t available.

New Wine & Cheese Festival 23-24 November 2013

If your time in Budapest happens to coincide then a visit to the fairy-tale Vajdahunyad Castle (marker C on the map) is a must, particular for wine and cheese lovers. Taste the year’s new wines with a side of flavorful local cheeses.
