Split is a popular stop for our guests, located around halfway down the long coastline of Croatia. Many of our guests prefer to stay in the nearby small medieval old town of Trogir but there’s also plenty going on in Split this summer to capture the imagination and encourage a stay there.
June 8-15 Mediterranean Film Festival
Movie buffs will be pleased to find a packed program of films from around the Mediterranean region playing in several cinemas in and around the Diocletian’s Palace in old Split.
July 5-7 Pop Music Festival
More of a curiosity than a must-see, unless you’re particularly into Croatian pop stars.
July 12-13 Ultra Europe
Before it island-hops over to Hvar for its sold-out beach party, the Ultra Europe dance music festival takes place over 2 days at Split’s Poljud stadium.
July 14 – August 14 Split Summer Festival
Similar to the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, you can look forward to a month of all kinds of music, theatre, choral and opera. Information in English is hard to come by but you can always use Google Translate to make some sense of the website.
August 4-10 Dalmatia Summer Salsa Festival
Bring your dancing shoes for this one. 3 days of Salsa workshops as well as various parties at venues throughout the city.
August 8-9 Discotheque Riva
Any dance music fans who missed out on Ultra Europe will be pleased to find that this event taking place right on Split’s famous waterfront promenade features such star acts as Fatboy Slim and Underworld.
August 28 – September 7 Chamber Music Festival
Music of a more serious bent later in August with a multiple performances throughout the festival across several genres from classical and orchestral to jazz and film scores.
September 14-21 Split Film Festival
A week-long International Film Festival closes out the summer with all kinds of movies being showcased at cinemas in or around the old town.
