Welcome to Berlin! You will be met at the airport and have transport arranged to your centrally located accommodation.

Included : Berlin Airport Transfer

Day 2

City Walking Tour
Today you'll be taking a group walking tour. You’ll stroll down Berlin's royal boulevard and retrace the city's evolution from a pagan fishing village into the capital of Prussia, a centre of the Enlightenment under Frederick the Great, the scene of occupation by Napoleon, and the capital of Bismarck's German empire. Your guide will help you discover the brilliant memorial for the Nazi book burning close to where Marx studied and Albert Einstein taught. Walk across the final battlefield of WWII and find out how the peculiar events surrounding the Reichstag fire led to the Nazis' rise to power in 1933. Stand at the site of Hitler's bunker: an in-depth account of the claustrophobic last days spent inside, Hitler's suicide, the fate of his remains and what became of the bunker itself. Explore the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and get the inside story behind the incredible controversy surrounding it.

20th Century Berlin History Day
Berlin is full of museums of art and history but there are two we recommend highly, the Berlin Wall Museum and the German History Museum. Why not explore their very informative exhibitions today? The Berlin Wall Memorial is an open-air stretch of 1.4 kilometers of the wall. At Bernauer Strasse, you’ll find the graffiti-covered wall as well as a proper museum that’s full of historical insight. The German History Museum, on the gorgeous and historical avenue Unter den Linden is the most impressive authority on the history of the German nation. You’ll find an incredible collection of art and artefacts from throughout history but the most resonant for most visitors is the section devoted to the 20th century. The permanent collection is huge, and there are also regular exhibitions.

Included : Berlin Group City Tour

Day 3

Optional: Cold War Walking Tour
Berlin was one of the epicenters of the Cold War, a city where world powers came together in an uncomfortable balance of power. Today you’ll step back in time into the Cold War world, with a four-hour walking tour that will show you all the city’s historical highlights, including the Berlin Wall, the Palace of Tears, the Soviet Embassy and its hidden areas, as well as Checkpoint Charlie. Your local guide will make the past come to life as you learn all the mysteries of the Iron Curtain. The meeting point is 10am at the McDonald's opposite the main entrance to Zoologischer Garten Station.

Optional: Potsdam Bus Tour
Potsdam is a cultural and architectural epicenter that’s well worth a visit. So today we recommend a 4.5-hour bus tour to explore the best that Potsdam has to offer. You’ll see the historic sections of the city and enjoy a walk through the impressive gardens of Sanssouci, where there are plenty of places to relax and areas to explore. The bus departs at 10am from Kurfuerstendamm 216.

Day 4

Sit back and relax as we whisk you from Berlin to Prague by train. You'll glide through the picturesque German countryside, and the journey moves riverside once you enter the Czech Republic. Regular train connections between the two cities means departure times are flexible. The journey takes about four and a half hours. Your hotel reception will be able to arrange a taxi for you, much more economically than a transfer service, so we haven’t included that in your package but can do should you wish. Your package includes second class tickets with seat reservations, upgrades to first are available but are much more expensive. For the chance to visit another city on your journey, choose our private transfer option. Your driver will pick you up in Berlin and deliver you to your centrally located Prague accommodation. Along the way however, you'll enjoy a stop in the beautiful and historic city of Dresden, about halfway between Prague and Berlin.
Included : Berlin - Prague Train Tickets 2nd Class

A little about Berlin

A vibrant cosmopolitan city that’s rich in history and contemporary culture, Berlin is a place that is constantly evolving. From the ruins of World War II to the Cold War division of the Berlin wall, Berlin has always emerged intact. The largest city in Germany and the capital of the country, this is a sprawling city that luckily has a very comprehensive system of public transportation, both above and below ground. You’ll find a little of everything here, from history to high gastronomy, art museums to palaces, and plenty lively bars. The nightlife here is world-class, but there’s more than enough to see during the day. Berlin is made up of distinctive neighborhoods, and each of them has a different character. We recommend several ways of exploring the city, from a Cold War walking tour to a bike tour to see all the must-see sights in a simple and easy way. An exploration of the long and volatile history of Jewish culture in the city is eye-opening as Jewish life in Berlin has been meticulously documented. Many of the city’s art and culture museums offer unforgettable glimpses into history. Potsdam offers the perfect diversion for an afternoon, and Sanssouci Palace, with its well-tended gardens, is a beautiful reminder of the city’s impressive past. The past comes alive in Berlin, but the present is very much alive as well.

3 Nights in Prague

Day 1

When you arrive at Prague's train station, we will have a driver there to meet you and take you to your accommodation.
Our representative will then meet with you to answer any questions you have and to get you settled for the rest of your trip.

Included : Prague Train Station Transfer

Day 2

Get to Know Prague on a City Walking Tour
Prague's main historic sights are situated on the so-called Royal Route between the Old Town and Prague Castle, crossing the river on the Charles Bridge. To make the most of your visit, we will book a private walking tour to put you in touch with all the history and romanticism of this wonderful city. As the tour ends in the courtyard of Prague Castle, you might want to continue the day by following one of the tour routes in the castle.

One of the most breathtaking interiors in the city is to be found at the Strahov Monastery. The halls of the library here have featured in several Hollywood films. After feasting your eyes you'll have the chance to feast on some Czech classics and brewed on-site beer at the monastery brewery.

Day 3

Optional: Explore Bohemia on a Day Trip from Prague
Take a break from the city and get out into the Bohemian countryside. Head east or west on your pick of two very different day trips. Two hours to the north, close to the German border is the ornate spa town of Karlovy Vary, or Carlsbad to its neighbors. With elegant colonnades, luxury and medicinal spas, a local herbal liquor distillery and a crystal factory, there's plenty to fill your day here! If you'd prefer a shorter journey and a more traditional Bohemian town then we'd recommend UNESCO-listed Kutna Hora. It's best-known for its "bone church," the Sedlec Ossuary, but is actually listed for its beautiful historic Old Town, St. Barbara's cathedral and the Italian court, once the royal mint, due to the now-exhausted silver mines in the area.

Day 4

Today, you'll have a lovely train ride from Prague to Vienna. As there are a number of trains running throughout the day, you can depart either in the morning or the afternoon for the roughly 5-hour trip. We'll arrange standard class tickets based on the train time of your choice and have a driver transfer you from your accommodation to the Prague train station. We can also arrange first class tickets for an additional fee though in our experience there is little difference, other than proximity to the dining car if available, between the two types of carriage. If you'd like a bit more comfort and flexibility, a private transfer can be arranged for an additional fee. This will save a bit of travel time and offers door-to-door service. You would also have the option of stopping for lunch and to taste the local wines in Mikulov, in the heart of the Moravian wine region close to the border with Austria.
Included : Prague Train Station Transfer, Prague - Vienna Train Ticket

A little about Prague

“The Golden City,” “The City of 100 Spires,” “The Mother of Cities”... Prague has no shortage of nicknames, and they all pay homage to the city’s charm and beauty. Prague’s winding cobblestone streets, its gorgeous architecture and its atmospheric bridges are fabled, and with good reason: this is a city like no other. From exploring the history and modern culture on foot, to traveling farther afield to take in the picturesque countryside and fairytale villages, you’ll have an itinerary full of adventure and relaxation. This is a very walkable city surrounded by easy-to-reach destinations in the surrounding regions. Besides the city’s history, which is evident on every street, including the beautifully preserved former Jewish Quarter, a rich program awaits. There will be plenty of time to sample the famous Bohemian beer, as we can offer several delightful gastronomic experiences, including a romantic dinner cruise on the Vltava river, and a relaxing afternoon at an actual beer spa! Day-trip destinations include scenic castles, the perfect spa town, and the Renaissance village of Cesky Krumlov. Prague is a city of history that comes to life for every visitor. No matter what your interests, you’ll find yourself intrigued by the inviting magic of the Czech capital in the heart of Europe.

From the palatial gardens to the stunning Baroque architecture, this has long been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Vienna. The castle also hosts numerous short-term exhibitions and classical music concerts throughout the year, so be sure to check the schedule.

Vienna

A little about Vienna

Vienna is a timeless city of high culture, grand cafes, breathtaking architecture and more, all set on the banks of the majestic Danube River. The moment you set foot in the city you’ll see why Vienna’s center is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Often regarded as the world capital of music, Vienna is the place where Beethoven and Mozart made history. Even today a visit to the opera or a classical music performance at one of the city’s sublime concert halls is an unforgettable experience. The center of Vienna, St. Stephen’s Square, is dominated by the impressive gothic cathedral of the same name. Inside you’ll find a rich collection of artistic treasures, and the view from the tower is well worth the climb, offering amazing views over the city. But the cathedral is only one of the most visible attractions in Vienna. You won’t want to miss the magnificent Schonbrunn Palace and the imperial Hofburg. Explore the city on foot, in a car, or by bike: the choice is yours. If you’d like to go farther afield you can even take a river cruise to nearby Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, or a bike trip to local wineries. But you don’t have to leave Vienna to have a wonderful time. Simply strolling through the pedestrian zones in the city center and stopping for a coffee and a slice of cake make for a truly enjoyable holiday.

3 Nights in Salzburg

Day 1

Depending on where your accommodation is, we can have someone meet you at the train station and bring you to the accommodation.

Included : Salzburg Train Station Transfer

Day 2

Group City Tour, then Mirabell Palace and Gardens
Today you’ll be getting a first-hand look at some of the most significant sites in Salzburg, with a 1.5-hour group tour. The city is divided by the Salzach River, with the pedestrian Old City on its left bank and the 19th century New City on the right. Towering high above is the impressive Fortress Hohensalzburg. You’ll begin by meeting at Mirabellplatz, directly in front of St. Andra Church, then hop in a coach for the tour. Destinations include Mozart’s birthplace, the university, and several theatres. Your tour will conclude at the stately Mirabell Palace and Gardens, which were featured in The Sound of Music and were also the setting of high-ranking Nazi weddings. Built in Italian and French style in the early 17th century, Mirabell is a quiet diversion from the city, and one of Salzburg’s must-see sights.

Optional: Sound of Music Group Tour, Scenic Hallstatt, or the WWII Eagles Nest
There is much to see just outside of Salzburg, so a day trip is certainly worth it. We suggest one of the following three excursions. The Sound of Music Tour will show you the sights most famously featured in the classic film. Alternatively, the scenic village of Hallstatt is a lovely excursion for a lakeside walk or hike and lunch in the quaint old town. And history buffs will get a thrill out of the Eagle’s Nest, an impressive chateau perched high atop the Kehltstein mountain, where Hitler took friends and visiting dignitaries.

You are off to the traditional Bavarian capital of Munich today. Relax, it's an easy 1.5 hour train journey, and there are a variety of trains running throughout the day. Salzburg

A little about Salzburg

With its perfectly preserved UNESCO-listed Old Town, Salzburg is renowned internationally for its baroque architecture. Add the backdrop of the Alps and you’ve got a city that makes for an unforgettable holiday. The imposing Salzburg Cathedral and the Hohensalzburg Fortress dominate the skyline, and in the center you’ll find plenty of grand cafes and fine restaurants. Salzburg’s two biggest claims to fame are that it was the birthplace of Mozart and the stage for the timeless musical The Sound of Music. But there’s more than just history here. Today the city is a vibrant destination for travelers looking for a mix of classic culture and modern flair. Strolling through Salzburg is one of the great pleasures of Europe. The local cuisine is hearty and there are more than enough restaurants, bars and cafes to keep you busy. Beer lovers shouldn’t miss sampling a stein or two of delicious local brew at the Augustiner brewery. But there is so much to see in the surrounding region that no visit to the city is complete without a day trip or two. You could tour through the pristine countryside to visit the stunning Hellbrunn Palace. History buffs will want to venture farther afield to visit Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest perched high in the Alps in Berchtesgaden.

3 Nights in Munich

Day 1

When you arrive at Munich Hauptbahnhof you will easily find the station’s taxi rank signposted. We haven’t included a transfer here because in our experience meet & greet transfer services in Munich are overpriced, unreliable and the driver can be hard to locate in the vast station. Munich’s taxis are honest, reasonably priced and you’ll have no problem finding one at the station’s taxi rank, so you’ll save both time and money by taking one to your centrally located accommodation.

Day 2

Munich Group Walking Tour
This excursion will introduce you to the magic of Munich, a city of many identities. Munich has been the playground of royalty and the common citizen alike. It has inspired artists, writers, architects, musicians, scientists, more than one madman, and many visitors. You'll see all the highlights including the key historical sites, the most beautiful churches, and the most famous beer halls. The tour won't ignore the more sinister aspects of 20th century Nazi history, but you'll see the better face of this lovely city also. For additional fee we can also arrange a private walking tour of the city.

Day 3

Optional: Neuschwanstein Castle Day Trip
One of the most impressive sites near Munich is the magnificent Neuschwanstein Castle. We recommend exploring it with a full-day excursion. You’ll travel by train about two hours from the city to the Old World town of Füssen in the foothills of the Alps, and head up to the castle’s lofty perch. Your guide will take you through the castle but also show you the best of the surrounding countryside, including breath-taking views and a beautiful lake. At the end of the day you’ll hop on the train back to Munich.

Optional: Experience WWII: Hitler and Third Reich Tour
Munich was the birthplace of the Nazi Party and the home of its headquarters, so there’s a volatile and mysterious history to explore here. We recommend doing so with a private 2.5-hour tour, including a local guide. You’ll see the beer halls that hosted the first small gatherings of the fanatics who one day would lead the Third Reich, and the places where Hitler made his first major speeches. Then explore the official Nazi Headquarters and the buildings that bear the scars of the Second World War.

A little about Munich

With its traditional beer halls, designer shops, trendy restaurants and international business, Munich is a mix of old and new, German and cosmopolitan. Largely rebuilt after World War II, the city still retains its old world charm, even in the midst of expansion and modernization. You’ve probably heard of the city’s world famous Oktobertfest, a once-in-a-lifetime party dedicated to that incredible Bavarian beer along with some of the local delicacies, including the tasty schnitzel. But there’s much more to Munich than drinking, and on your holiday you’ll have the chance to discover the best this charming city has to offer. Don’t miss out on the beer halls and the breweries, but be sure to get off the beaten path to discover a Munich of your own. Much of the city’s past centers around World War II, and there are several ways you can explore this chapter of Munich’s history, including a daytrip to the Dachau concentration camp and a special tour focusing on Hitler and the local activities of the Third Reich. Munich is also a center of industry and there is nowhere better to experience this than BMW World. Moving slightly farther afield, Neuschwanstein Castle makes the perfect daytrip, perched high in the hills over a verdant valley. Munich’s variety means there’s more than enough to satisfy even the most diverse groups of travelers. Let your curiosity guide you as you explore this unique German city.

We have not regretted for a moment, we entered the Jay Way world.  Within minutes they had sent us an itinerary for our proposed trip and later gave us several selections for accommodations at various levels of comfort.  We saved ourselves hours of self inflicted searching, pondering, reserving and unnecessary risk. We were comforted greatly at the transition points, i.e., being met as we arrived at each location, having a city tour to orient us to each city, and then transport to either the train station or by shuttle to our next destination. We recommend Jay Way Travel without any reservation. The time, energy, and effort they saved us was worth every dollar of their fee, which by any accounts was very reasonable.

Everything went smoothly and it was nice to talk to someone rather than just email. Our driver in Budapest was wonderful.
