Itinerary

Day Stop in Venice

Day 1

You will be met in Venice Piazzale Roma by your guide and driver for the next week.

A little about Venice

Venice is a legendary city with a charm and atmosphere all its own. The city was constructed on more than 100 islands connected by a series of canals, most of which are lined with gorgeous palaces, beautiful churches, and all sorts of impressive architecture. While the city isn’t huge, it is packed with pedestrian-only streets and quaint, winding alleys that will keep you exploring for days. The city is very popular with tourists year-round, so you certainly won’t be the only travelers walking through the streets with camera in hand. This being Italy, the cuisine in Venice is delicious, and we can especially recommend the Cicchetti of Venice tour. Cicchetti are Venetian tapas, and this tour will introduce you to some of the city’s most iconic eateries and its most delicious recipes. If it’s your first time in Venice, we can organize a tour to show you all the most important sites. And since no trip to the city of canals is complete without a boat ride, we offer a number of ways for you to get a new point of view of the city and its magnificent architecture. It’s easy to while away your time in Venice, discovering new secrets around every corner.

3 Nights in Veneto

Day 1

Treviso and Villa Pisani
From Venice you will transfer to Treviso, a lovely city often overseen by visitors since it lies in the shade of the bright star of Venice. Historically the gateway of "Serenissima" from the mainland, its mighty walls protect elegant historic buildings and a small maze of canals, along which we can enjoy a traditional lunch in a family-run restaurant. Along the way we can make a detour to admire the splendid Villa Pisani, the "Queen" of the world - famous venetian villas. Situated along the scenic Riviera del Brenta, an ideal extension of Venetian Gran Canal on the land, this splendid mansions was for centuries the showcase of Pisani family. In its 144 rooms doges, kings and emperors (including Napoleon and the 1st King if Italy) were welcomed and nowadays it is a national museum which conserves eighteenth and nineteenth century works of art and furniture. We will then head towards Giusti Winery where you will stay for the first 3 nights. A renowned Prosecco producer, the Giusti estates are nestled in a scenic area, made famous by the epic battles of WW1 of which we can visit the most interesting sites Ernest Hemingway described his experiences along the Piave River battlefront nearby in his novel "A Farewell To Arms". Dinner tonight will be at the wine estate.

Asolo and Valdobbiadene
The attractive walled town of Asolo is in a picturesque setting in the lower forested foothills of the Dolomite mountains and listed as one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. The surrounding countryside is never far away, and the varied glimpses of the hills that you get as you explore have led the town to be nicknamed the 'city of a hundred horizons'. Bassano del Grappa is famous for its covered bridge reminiscent of WW1 Alpine troops, however our interest lies in Poli Grappa museum with tasting of the typical grappa varieties, learning to savor the taste and recognize its nuances. We will return to Giusti winery in time for dinner.

A little about Veneto

Veneto covers a varied expanse of north-eastern Italy, from the Dolomite mountains in the north to the Adriatic coast in the south and the whole eastern shore of Lago di Garda, boasting Venice as its shining jewel. Besides it's regional capital of Venice, the major attractions of the region are the cities of Verona and Padua but one of its most exceptional elements is the extraordinary variety of scenery. Ranges of hills, rivers, canals and the Po River Delta shape the landscape and provide ample slopes for cultivating grapes.

Friuli

A little about Friuli

Tucked away in the north-eastern corner of Italy, Friuli isn't on the mass tourism route yet it offers up plenty of attractions to the more curious visitor. A very distinctive region, bordering on Austria by way of the Carnic Alps and Slovenian along the Julian Alps, as well as Italy's Veneto region to the west, Friuli's roots run deep, with signs of many civilisations still to be found throughout. Its multilingual history, with German and Slovenian influences is also felt in its cuisine. Must visits in the area are Cividale del Friuli, with its medieval center one of the few major tourism magnets around San Daniele del Friuli, primarily to sample some of the excellent eponymous prosciutto. Of course as with most parts of Italy, wine is produced here and the main DOC is Collio, from the Colli Orientali del Friuli.
