Top vacation destinations in Brac

An island of scenic extremes.
Southern Croatia's largest island, Brac (pronounced Bratch) is scenic everywhere you look, from the highest of the tallest mountain found on any Adriatic island, to the famous Zlatni Rat ("Golden Horn") beach, a sandy hook curving into the sea. Whether you want to relax by the beaches by the towns of Bol and Supetar, explore neighboring islands such as Hvar, or bike and hike the rugged interior, Brac has plenty of memorable ways to explore the great outdoors.
Even if you've never heard of Brac, you'll have seen its chief export all over Croatia and even further afield. Brac is renowned for its stone, and its stonemasonry school, the last of its kind. Brac stone was used to build Diocletian's Palace in Split in the 4th century AD and more recently in the construction of the White House in Washington D.C. A tour of the island will give you the chance to discover another famous island product, lamb. A number of traditional taverns prepare it 'under the bell', a classic Dalmatian preparation.
