A dramatic landscape yielding clear waters, stunning beaches, memorable vistas, and historic churches and monasteries.
Himara has two parts, the lower town featuring a seaside promenade that runs between crystal blue water, and taverns and fish restaurants. Uphill lies the Old Town, built around the ruins of a massive, ancient castle. Up and down the coast, it's easy to find Albania's best beaches, amidst dramatic caves and headlands. Scattered inland lie Byzantine monasteries and churches.

What we love about Himare

Split/Trogir City Host & Adriatic Destination Expert

Himare has retained plenty of beach town charm and with a distinct Greek influence. With its inevitably excellent seafood, and plenty to do nearby, this is an excellent base for some beach time.

Dubrovnik City Host & Adriatic Destination Expert

At first glance, Himare is very similar to other Albanian coastal villages. However it's more packed with restaurants and accommodations, and thus busier in the summer. The beaches are very beautiful and I remember a spectacular sunset while enjoying the freshest seafood dinner. It's not an easy choice, but you can't go wrong with overnight stays at Dhermi, Himare, or Queparo,
