For those who collect stunning views, we recommend to climbing Mont Saleve, on foot or by cable car. Arriving at the summit, you'll find yourself in the middle of an immense playground for sports lovers. You can go paragliding, climbing, mountain biking, and hiking (and naturally cross-country skiing in winter). You will enjoy the fresh air and stunning panorama of Geneva, and can stop at a restaurant for lunch and further views. The most iconic place is the floating Bateau Lavoir, which resembles the floating "washing boats" where 19th century women did their laundry. To mention just one such luminary, Empress Elisabeth, AKA "Sisi" was a fan of the lake, although her love ended in tragedy on September 10, 1898, when she ran into an anarchist looking to take the life of a sovereign. Having arrived too late to assassinate one one of the lake's royal fans, he ran into Sisi instead, stabbing her. The grievously wounded empress boarded the Bateau Genéve, a steamship, where she passed away. Sold for scrap in the 70s, the boat was preserved, and transforms into a memorable floating restaurant every summer.

Zurich has its own hill, the Uetliberg, which offers great views amid green majesty. You can easily reach it by train from Zurich's main station, or by taking a streetcar from the Fifa World Football Museum. Choosing the latter option will let you add an easy 20-minute hike to the top, following the "Planetenweg" ("Planets Path") route, although there are several others to try. As the name implies, the route passes models of the planets (each meter equals one million kilometers), so you can get a feel for the solar system's true size. Once you're above the city, enjoy the hill's panorama, and refreshing air and nature.

Just an hour away from Zurich are Europe's largest waterfalls, the "Rhine Falls." Easily visited by train (you can take the S9 to get there directly), we also offer a fully-guided half-day group tour, which will introduce you to the nearby towns and scenery, and the stories and facts behind them. If you'd like to go it alone, you can get free admission to the waterfalls after arriving at the Neuhausen Rhine Falls train station. To cross a nearby bridge and get a better view of the falls costs 5 CHF, but comes with admission to the palace next door. You can also get a memorable perspective from one of the local ferries.
