What's your favorite thing about traveling?

My favorite thing about traveling is talking to locals. I believe that you can learn more about a country and its culture by talking to real people than by reading a guidebook. Not to mention that locals always know the best restaurants away from tourist crowds.

Why do you think it's important to travel?
It helps to open your mind and realize how diverse our world truly is.

What's the best place you've ever visited and why?

The Basque Country, this remarkable Spanish region that has its own language and a distinctive geographic and cultural landscape. It is also one of the world's top culinary destinations with 30 Michelin-starred restaurants.

What destination is at the top of your must-visit list?

Definitely Mexico. Unique culture and history, beaches, mountains, lakes, and volcanoes, you name it, Mexico has it.

What was the most exotic dining or cultural experience you've had when traveling?

Mexican fried chapulines (grasshoppers) seasoned with chile and lime.

Best advice for travelers to Europe?
Planning on your own is fun until your flight gets canceled, the guide doesn’t show up, or the hotel does not meet your expectations. If you want a smooth trip, work with a travel advisor.

Mountains or beaches? Why?

Beaches and the ocean since scuba diving is my hobby.

What were your reasons for choosing to work in travel? And what value do you see in it?

I like to help people and make their travel dreams come true.

What’s something you’ve been meaning to try, but haven’t got around to yet?

To spend a year in Southeast Asia, and more specifically, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
