What's your favorite thing about traveling?

Ever since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of exploring the world. I was a quiet child who could never say no to a trip, not even a short one to a local grocery store. As I grew older, I realized traveling and discovering new, pristine, off-the-beaten-path locations was a passion of mine. While on that quest, I learned that a good glass of local wine, authentic, delicious local cuisine, and new lifelong friendships were all I needed to feel fulfilled and happy.

Why do you think it's important to travel?

Wittgenstein once said that the limits of his language were the limits of his world. Travel broadens our horizons, teaches us to respect new cultures, and develops our identity in unimaginable ways.

What is your idea of a perfect vacation?

My perfect vacation consists of early starts, right before sunrise, and continues with a day-long exploration, quality local food to replenish energy, and easy-going, relaxing nights.

What's the best place you've ever visited and why?

Tenerife is absolute heaven on Earth because of its breathtaking, immeasurably beautiful landscape, culturally rich history, and some of the friendliest people I have ever met. It's the one place I call home.

What do you consider to be your best finds from your travels, and where was it?

My authentic handmade Canarian earrings worn only on Spanish romerias, and a lava rock as a memory of my first successful hike to the peak of a volcano.

What destination is at the top of your must-visit list?

Kyoto in Japan.

What was the most exotic dining or cultural experience you've had when traveling?

Honestly, I haven't had any very exotic experiences, but I have enjoyed delicious foods everywhere I've traveled. Some of my favorite dishes are gofio escaldado, cactus ice cream, and sea urchin.

What's something you always bring with you when you travel?

Socks. They keep my camera and bottles of olive oil safe.

Best advice for travelers to Europe?

Try to immerse yourselves in the local culture. Keep an open mind, be kind, and speak a word (or two) of the local language to make someone's day.

Mountains or beaches? Why?

Beaches at sunrise. They are pristine, and the sound of ocean waves crashing on the shore is one of the most soothing sounds in the world.
