The holidaymakers who head for the seaside resort towns are missing out on something special. Malaga is one of the oldest cities in Europe and was founded by the Phoenicians in 770 BC. The Alcazaba of Malaga is a must for anyone visiting this historic city. It could be considered as a prototype of the Alhambra in Granada. The historic port has a vast array of traditional and contemporary cuisines and is a short walk from the city center. Malaga has a lively tapas scene too. Known as the birth town of Pablo Picasso, his home was historically preserved as a museum and is easily accessible in the city center of Malaga.
