Day 3

Day 3 - Your Second Full Day in Dubrovnik

A Day at the Beach

Suggestion to explore on your own

Dubrovnik is located on the Adriatic, one of the world’s bluest and cleanest seas. Of course, the beaches are fantastic, too. Here are our top picks: Banje Beach is the busiest in the city center but provides some of the best views of the old town and its ramparts. You can chill out on the lounge chairs and exotic bamboo beds or get into some water sports action such as waterskiing, waterboarding, tubing, and the crazy UFO ride. Now, Buza Beach is something else. Tucked under the city walls on rocky ground, it's got a stunning sea view. And the best part? The café there keeps the good times rolling even after the sun goes down. And then there's St. Jacob Beach – it's like a postcard. People say it's one of the most beautiful beaches in Dubrovnik. Climbing up to St. Jacob Beach might involve tackling quite a few stairs, but the view and vibes you get once you're there make it totally worth the effort.

A Day at the Beach

Ranch Time

Suggestion to explore on your own

For active families looking for a fun-packed trip in nature, the Konavle region south east of Dubrovnik is perfect. From horseback riding through picturesque meadows to cycling and fun games on miniature sport courts. Your local JayWay contact will be happy to make recommendations and provide support and assistance in advising how to get there as well as booking activities.

Day 4 - Traveling to Hvar by Ferry

Today you're off to Hvar, Europe's sunniest island! Our representative in Dubrovnik will provide you with tickets for the ferry. You will be picked up from your accommodation by your private driver who will take you to the port in plenty of time for your departure. Total duration of the journey is about 3,5 hours. This ferry service is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Hvar but if you would prefer taking the opportunity to see some sights along the way, for additional fee there's an option of taking a private transfer to Split and a ferry to Hvar from there. Along the way you can stop to explore Ston, the oyster capital of Croatia, or Mostar in Bosnia to see the famously reconstructed bridge. Please note that this is a full day transfer.

One of the gems of the Adriatic, Hvar is more than a beautiful coastal town. It’s also an ancient epicenter of culture, boasting the oldest communal theater in Europe, and a stunning medieval fortress dating back to the 7th century. There’s a little bit of everything here, from history and architecture to modern culture, outdoor adventures and isolated beaches. Whether you want a vacation that’s action-packed or something more relaxing, Hvar will offer more than enough variety to please you. The longest of the Adriatic islands, Hvar’s fertile landscape makes it perfect for growing grapes, giving you several local vineyards to visit. Be sure to sample the local cuisine, which emphasizes freshly caught fish, warm bread, and vegetables grown on the island. We can offer a tasting tour at the finest local vineyards. Those seeking an active vacation will not be disappointed either, as there are several possibilities for sailing, swimming, exploring the sea caves along the coast. Day Stop in Split

The Roman Emperor Diocletian made Split his home in the 4th Century AD, building a vast palace complex on the waterfront that stands to this day. In fact several of the accommodation options we offer in Split are nestled inside its ancient walls. These days there is an embankment in front of Diocletian's palace but the water used to go right up to the main wall. It's on this man-made strip of land that you'll find the Riva, a pedestrian promenade bustling with life. Split's UNESCO listed Old Town is contained within these old walls and is a pedestrian-only maze that it is quite easy, but fun, to get lost in. Who know what romantic hidden cafés you might find in one of the narrow streets and alleyways? To get the best out of your time in Split, however, we recommend taking a tour with a local guide. Split is very well connected for flights, with an international airport a half hour drive away and is a popular stopping point for our guests on their way between Dubrovnik and the islands of Hvar, Vis, or Korcula, all easily reached by a ferry from Split's port. If you base yourself in Split for a few days, you will find it is also perfect located for visits to some of Croatia's most stunning national parks.

Sibenik may seem a bit obscure to be protected by four large fortresses, but once you see the Cathedral of St. James, they'll make more sense. The UNESCO-listed cathedral is a stunning bright white stone example of Renaissance architecture at its height, topped with an unusual rounded barrel roof and dome, and full of unusual decorations, such as dozens of heads lining the exterior. The surrounding Old Town is itself a delight to explore, and no visit is complete without taking in the views from atop the steep walls of the Venetian St. Michael's Fortress.
