Day 1
Day 1 - Arrival in Lima
After you land at Lima’s airport, your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name on it. The journey to your accommodation will take up to one hour.
Altitude Advisory
Some destinations on this itinerary are located at high altitude, including Cusco (11,150 ft). Some travelers may experience mild symptoms, such as headache, fatigue, dizziness, or shortness of breath while adjusting to the elevation. We recommend staying well hydrated, avoiding excessive alcohol upon arrival, and taking the first days at a relaxed pace. Guests with pre-existing medical conditions, particularly heart or respiratory conditions, should consult their doctor prior to travel.
Take in The Beauty of The Ocean
Take a leisurely walk along the Malecón, Miraflores’ scenic seaside promenade, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Stretching along cliffs above the coast, the path offers parks, gardens, and lookout points where you can watch the waves and the surfers below. Perfect at sunset, the promenade is a peaceful way to end your first day in Lima, whether you’re strolling alone, with friends, or stopping for a photo or a drink along the way.

Day 2
Day 2 - Traveling to Tambopata Jungle by Airplane
Say goodbye to Peru’s vibrant coastal capital and get ready to journey deep into the Amazon rainforest! Today, you’ll take a flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to Peru’s incredible jungle lodges and wildlife adventures. Your flight takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes, and we’ll arrange a private transfer to the airport to ensure a smooth, comfortable travel experience.

2 Nights in Tambopata Jungle
2 Nights in Tambopata Jungle

2 Nights in Tambopata Jungle
Your Amazon jungle experience begins by arriving in Puerto Maldonado on the edge of the Tambopata National Reserve, the gateway to the Peruvian Amazon and the main point of entry for visiting the lush southern rainforest. The town itself is unassuming, far from being a major sightseeing destination, with a very local, frontier feel where a few markets and riverfront areas give a glimpse into daily life, but most travelers spend only a short time in town before heading into a jungle lodge, immersed in nature, unless you opt for the one hotel in town. From here, you'll transition from the busy everyday world into the quiet, immersive experience of the jungle.

Day 3
Day 3 - Your First Full Day in Tambopata Jungle

Macaw Clay Lick Private Tour in Chuncho Collpa
Experience one of the Amazon’s most extraordinary wildlife spectacles on this early-morning journey to the Chuncho Clay Lick. Travel deep into the Tambopata region to watch hundreds of parrots and macaws gather at a riverbank cliff in a stunning display of color and sound. Along the way, enjoy river views at sunrise and frequent chances to spot wildlife.
Explore The Rainforest From The Treetops
If you're comfortable with moderate heights and narrow bridges, visit the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway in Tambopata for a truly unique experience. This impressive network of hanging bridges and observation platforms rises to nearly 100 feet above the forest floor, offering a rare treetop perspective on Amazon biodiversity and excellent opportunities for bird and wildlife observation. This experience typically lasts around one and a half to two hours and is guided by knowledgeable naturalists who bring the jungle's canopy ecosystem to life.
Day 4
Day 4 - Traveling to Sacred Valley Resorts by Airplane
The mystical Sacred Valley awaits you today! You’ll take a short flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco, the gateway to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Your flight takes approximately 1 hour, and we’ll arrange a private transfer to the airport and transfer by boat if necessary, to ensure a smooth, comfortable travel experience.

1 Night in Sacred Valley Resorts
1 Night in Sacred Valley Resorts

1 Night in Sacred Valley Resorts
The Sacred Valley resort area is ideal for travelers seeking the perfect blend of nature, comfort, and relaxation. Evenings are usually peaceful, and most dining happens within the hotels, which offer excellent cuisine and beautiful settings. The atmosphere is more rural than urban, but that’s exactly what many guests appreciate: quiet nights, starry skies, and a sense of calm that comes into striking contrast with busier Peruvian cities. As the area is spread out, activities typically require short drives, and there are limited standalone restaurants or shops outside the hotels. But the combination of natural beauty, fresh air, and top-quality lodgings renders the Sacred Valley one of the most pleasant places to stay in the entire country.

2 Nights in Machu Picchu Pueblo
The greatest advantage of Machu Picchu Pueblo is its location. Staying here allows travelers to reach the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu early in the morning, with minimal travel time. However, there's more to Machu Picchu Pueblo than just its convenient location. In this charming town, you'll be amazed by scenic mountain views, while the soothing murmur of the water as you walk along the river that runs through the town is the perfect soundtrack to the most relaxing strolls. Speaking of relaxing moments, many of the hotels we've partnered with in Machu Picchu offer spa facilities, ideal when preparing for, or recuperating from, exploring the ruins.

Day 5 - Arrival in Machu Picchu Pueblo
After departing the train at Machu Picchu Pueblo/Aguas Calientes station, your hotel will either be a short walk from the station or if it's a little longer we will advise on the best way to get to your hotel.
Stroll Machu Picchu's Artisanal Market
No visit to Machu Picchu Pueblo is complete without a stroll through the town's Artisan Market. This colorful maze of stalls by the train tracks is packed with alpaca textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and souvenirs. It's the ideal place to buy gifts and keepsakes before or after visiting Machu Picchu. Open until 8 PM, the market is a lovely place to go after dinner, on your way back to your hotel.
Enter a World of Butterflies
The Machu Picchu Butterfly Farm offers an enchanting look into the biodiversity of the cloud forest. Inside the dedicated interpretation area and laboratory, you can witness the incredible life cycle of local species from tiny eggs to emerging cocoons. Resident biologists provide fascinating explanations about how these insects adapt and survive in the high-altitude jungle. Located right on the banks of the scenic Vilcanota River, the sanctuary also features an on-site coffee shop. Here, you can relax with a drink, enjoying peaceful river views.
Day 6
Day 6 - Your First Full Day in Machu Picchu Pueblo

Machu Picchu Private Tour (non refundable)
Today, you will explore the marvels of Machu Picchu, likely to be the highlight of your journey through Peru. Your private guide will meet you at your hotel and accompany you to the bus station. From here, you will take a shuttle up the mountain, which is the sole means of accessing the archaeological site, as private vehicles are not permitted.
Upon arrival at the entrance, your guide will lead you through the designated sectors included with your ticket type. Highlights of the main archaeological site include the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Rock, and the Temple of the Three Windows. You will also have time to enjoy the iconic panoramic viewpoint and experience the principal landmarks of the citadel.
For travelers with a higher fitness level, there is an option to add the additional hike to Huayna Picchu at an extra cost. Please note that this is a strenuous ascent on uneven stairs, but you will be rewarded with spectacular views overlooking the entire Machu Picchu archaeological site.
At the end of your guided visit, we highly recommend extending your stay, and we can book lunch for you at the beautiful Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, which sits at the site entrance and is the only hotel in the area. Alternatively, if you prefer to return to Machu Picchu Pueblo, you can take the next available bus back down the mountain, as they run frequently but cannot be booked in advance.
Reward Yourself With a Lunch To Remember
After your guided visit to Machu Picchu, we suggest stopping for lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge, just outside the site entrance. It’s the most convenient place to unwind after exploring the ruins, offering a comfortable setting and delicious food. The spectacular views of the surroundings from the floor to ceiling windows, accompanied by delicious Peruvian specialties make for a memorable meal and relaxing break before continuing your day at your own pace.
Relax at The Spa
The town’s Spanish name sets the tone for what awaits you in Machu Picchu Pueblo. Aguas Calientes translates into Hot Waters in Spanish, referring to the natural hot springs that are found in the town. Wellness is a key feature of many of the town's hotels, and many are equipped with spa facilities. If your hotel doesn't have a spa, we know the best spot in town and your city host will help you obtain the city pass. A massage, hot tub or sauna are perfect for soothing aching muscles, or to relax after a visit to the archeological site.
Day 7
Day 7 - Traveling to Cusco by Train
Your next destination is Cusco! You will begin the day with a scenic 1.5-hour train journey to Ollantaytambo, where your private driver will be waiting to continue the journey to Cusco.

2 Nights in Cusco
Cusco’s unique charm lies in its friendly and warm people, colorful traditional clothing, and animated local spirit. The city offers an impressive selection of top-quality hotels and restaurants, from casual spots serving Andean dishes to classy fine dining experiences. Cusco is also considered one of Peru’s safest and most walkable cities, with plenty to discover on foot. That said, visitors should keep in mind that Cusco is one of the world's highest cities, and it may take a little time for the body to adjust to this high altitude. It's no secret that the city’s hilly streets can make walking a bit tiring at first. Take your time to explore the city’s unparalleled atmosphere, warmth, and cultural richness with multiple colonial era and Incan sites in and near the city that comprise Cusco's UNESCO World Heritage List entry.

Day 7 - Arrival in Cusco
Upon reaching Cusco, your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
Acclimatization's Important!
Cusco sits way up at around 11,150 feet (3,400 meters) above sea level, so give yourself time to acclimatize when you arrive. Take it easy on day one, stay well-hydrated, and avoid heavy meals or alcohol until you’re feeling settled. Many travelers find that sipping coca tea (available at every cafe, restaurant and hotel in Cusco) or taking short, gentle walks helps their body adjust. If you’re flying straight in from sea level, expect to feel the altitude. Most people tend to adjust to the altitude within a day.
Day 8
Day 8 - Your First Full Day in Cusco

Alpaca Walk with Wool Dye Workshop & Pachamanca Private Tour

Learn about the significance and care of alpacas from a local owner, and explore traditional Andean textile techniques up close.
Visit an Animal Sanctuary
A mere 30-minute drive from the heart of Cusco, lies a 5-hectare sanctuary on a mission to heal injured animals before releasing them back into the wild. While there, you'll have the opportunity to see rare species of animals, such as Andean condors, spectacled bears, pumas, Andean mountain cats, macaws, and many more. By taking a tour of the sanctuary not only will you get acquainted with Peru's nature, but also actively help protect the country's wildlife.

2 Nights in Arequipa
Arequipa is one of southern Peru’s most elegant destinations, offering great restaurants, atmospheric cafés, and beautiful public spaces all within a walkable historic district. It’s a charming place for travelers who value architecture, culture, and a more relaxed urban experience. While it has a long list of attractions, Arequipa still feels laid-back compared to Lima or Cusco, and evenings tend to be more about rooftop cocktails and leisurely dinners than nightlife. But its heritage, scenery, and understated sophistication make it a memorable favorite for many visitors.
