Barcelona, Seville, Madrid

Travel and LeisureFodorsUSA TodayNew York TimesNational GeographicWashington PostVogue

This high-paced week-long tour packs a lot into a week. Starting out in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, you'll get your first introduction to the Spanish way of life. A high-speed train journey takes you to your next stop, Seville. This Andalusian marvel is still a seat of the Spanish Royal family. Your journey ends in Madrid, the country's capital, where you'll also have the opportunity to take a day trip to stunning Toledo, the "City of Three Cultures".

In addition to the tours included we can arrange a number of excursions based on your own interests. All of our tours are custom, and this is just a sample meant to give an idea of what our trips are like, and the opportunities our destinations provide. If you have more time we would suggest adding a day or two to each of the destinations or even extending. If this is your first trip to Spain, we should warn you, it definitely won't be your last!

One of our team members in the region will be available to you leading up to and during your trip to answer any questions and arrange additional local services. You will receive access to your Guest Page, with its information on the best these destinations have to offer, including things to see and do, and other inside tips from restaurant recommendations to tipping advice. Upon your arrival, we will provide you with a local cell phone that you can use to reach your local JayWay contact throughout your trip. In all of our destinations, we offer a variety of memorable 3-5 star accommodation options, including boutique hotels, charming B&Bs, or 5-star palacios. With our first-hand experience, we can ensure they are all clean, comfortable, and centrally located, with local ambience.

Although it may not be the most famous city in Spain, Seville is considered by many to be the most beautiful. You get a sense of its unique charms as you meander through winding streets surrounded by characteristic white and pipeclay yellow walls of the painted buildings. Due to the hustle and bustle of port activity, 16th century Seville was the richest city in Spain. Goods of all splendor brought from the New World arrived at the feet of awestruck locals. Venture further into the city to marvel at the largest Gothic Temple in the world, Seville Cathedral, or try to imagine the sense of pride and awe felt by locals for hundreds of years as they gazed up at The Giralda Tower. This minaret was built in the Almohad period and was, for centuries, the tallest building in Spain and constructed as part of a Grand Mosque.

The capital, as well as the geographical and cultural center of Spain, Madrid has long enthralled visitors. Since Prince Phillip II made Madrid the capital in the mid 16th century the city has become home to the largest functioning royal palace in Europe, as well as many museums, cafes, parks, universities, and cultural attractions. Although tourism in the city is growing, Spain's many other attractions mean the city is able to maintain its authenticity and you'll find local character and charm in each of its different neighborhoods. Madrid is perfectly located as a base for day trips to UNESCO-listed towns in central Spain and well connected for traveling onward to any corner of the country for further exploration.

Awarded with UNESCO World Heritage protection in 1986, Toledo undoubtedly should be your first-day trip destination after having discovered the major points of interest in Madrid.
