Daniele
Italy Country Manager
Daniele, our initial contact at JayWay and our guide for our excursion to Parma Hills was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the history of the region, the local food and wine, and the places to visit. However, not only was he informative, he was a delight, funny and so friendly--an ideal guide.
Jim, Massachusetts

Daniele joined us to manage our expansion into Italy after a couple of seasons of running our popular gourmet tours there. Originally from Torino, his engineering background and a job with Fiat gave him the opportunity to live in several European countries. The perspective he gained from being outside of Italy allowed him to even better appreciate the marvelous variety his homeland offers. His passion for his country and for travel comes through in the self-guided trips he plans for our guests but especially on the gourmet tours he continues to lead for us.

What's your favorite thing about traveling?

Getting to know different cultures so I can better understand my own by comparison.

What is your idea of a perfect vacation?

Discovery, meeting new cultures, and having enough time to blend with local rhythms and meet local people.

What's the best place you've ever visited and why?

Latin America for the landscapes and nature, Vietnam and Burma for a blend of culture, nature and great food, and Italy for all the best of everything, so you can enjoy life in total comfort.

What was the most exotic dining or cultural experience you've had when traveling?

Once I joined a traditional wedding ceremony in a remote village in Burma and I was the only foreigner in the whole region.

Best advice for travelers to Europe?

Go off the beaten path and blend in with locals. Don't focus only on the obvious must-see cities, enjoy the countryside as well because that's the real local life.

Mountains or beaches? Why?

Mountains for hikes, a feeling of challenge, and contact with nature. I am not a beach fan, but I love scuba diving and long walks on empty beaches away from crowds.

How do you manage pre-trip stress and unexpected situations during your travels?

I plan my flights and accommodation, and I get an idea of the main attractions I want to see. Then I improvise and talk to locals, who are always the best source of info.
