Prague’s Top 5 Breakfast Spots

Although most of our guests visiting Prague choose to stay in a hotel, those who stay in apartments often ask us for breakfast recommendations. We’ve brought years of breakfasting experience to bear to come up with our top 5 breakfast spots (actually 6, as one of them has a couple of branches):

Julius Meinl

Julius Meinl Breakfast

On the third floor of this ‘gourmet palace’ opened in December 2013 you’ll find a restaurant. We’ve not been there in the evening yet but have enjoyed their signature breakfast menu and at 295Kc (approx $15) we can state it is quite the feast. There are various menus including English Breakfast and French Breakfast but the Julius Meinl Breakfast was our choice. Muesli with fresh-sliced fruits and yogurt, Prague ham, smoked salmon, cream cheese, a baked-goods basket, poached egg, freshly squeezed juice and a coffee.

Pastacaffe's Sunny Side Up EggsWith two branches, one in Old Town and one in New Town, you’re never too far from a Pastacaffe. The excellent Lamborghini coffee is a signature feature of these places, as is the all-day breakfast menu with freshly baked bread, croissants, omelettes and eggs any way you like.

Bohemia Bagel

A fixture of the Prague cafe scene, American-owned Bohemia Bagel bake the best bagels in town, filled in myriad ways including classics like egg & bacon or salmon and cream cheese.

La Gare

La Gare's Eggs BenedictWith its on-site bakery you can be sure of primo croissants at this French brasserie. Best breakfast option on the menu – their take on eggs benedict, served with smoked salmon on a potato galette.

La Bottega di Finestra

Italian cuisine doesn’t generally give breakfast much thought. Thankfully that isn’t the case here. Handy for Charles Bridge and with an egg-centric breakfast line-up that features a few scrambled eggs variants, omelettes, poached, fried or boiled. There’s a range of sweet baked goods available too if you’d prefer a lighter bite to start your day.
