Sparta was one of the most important city-states in Ancient Greece. Renowned for its unique social system that prioritized military education and physical strength over everything else, Sparta soon became a synonym for bravery and superb wartime skills. It's no overstatement to say that the way the local society was structured turned Sparta into a machine that constantly produced mighty warriors. As a result, no great works of art or wonders of architecture were erected to immortalize Sparta's glory, as was the case in Ancient Athens and elsewhere in Greece. Yet, Sparta's fame never faded throughout the centuries.
