Dubrovnik City Host & Adriatic Destination Expert
Ivana was exemplary. From the first email I received from her I immediately felt at ease and secure in the details of our trip. Her email correspondence was friendly, direct, organized and easy to respond to. (She was also good at politely following up with me when my response time was slow.) While in Europe, she was easy-going about our flight delays (met us at 9pm!) and easily reachable the whole time we were there. She went above and beyond helping me with various questions and even out-of-the-ordinary requests. She made a very strong positive impact on our experience.
Ivana came to JayWay with plenty of experience in tourism, alongside a degree in Tourism and Marketing. Although she worked with several big British tour operators over the years, Ivana found that working with big group tours wasn't for her, since she preferred to get to know the people she was working for, and devote time to them, so JayWay was a perfect fit. Ivana naturally loves to travel, and is a big foodie, but she especially loves to read a good book, and enjoy excellent Croatian wine.
What do you consider to be your best finds from your travels and where was it?
A scarf from Israel. It is not the best find but the story of buying it... we negotiated the price, and in the end I got a marriage proposal and they were offering camels and cows to my family.
Mountains or beaches? Why?
I am a beach person but I would rather go to mountains. But not during snow season. I don't like snow. Yes, I am very complex person! I love the fresh air, mountain walks, small villages and the hospitality of people in those areas.
Planes, trains, or automobiles? How do you like to travel and why?
Everything! If going far from Dubrovnik, planes are a must. Locally (in the Balkan area) I like to travel by car, but around other parts of Europe I prefer trains so I don't have to stress over parking, traffic jams. When you drive you can't pay attention to anything other than the road and road signs.
What were your reasons for choosing to work in travel? And what value do you see in it?
I grew up in a touristy area, so working in tourism is something that you either hate or adore. I love it. I started working in tourism when I was in high school and I love hosting and helping people, and giving them that extra touch to make their stay memorable.
