Are there any visa requirements to travel to the UK and mainland Europe?

As of April 2026, traveling from the US to the UK requires a digital authorization alongside your travel documents. While you do not need a traditional visa for short stays, you must complete the UK’s online travel authorization application before you fly, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). You may have heard of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) authorization which applies to the Schengen area. This is scheduled to launch in late 2026 though has been delayed multiple times.
