Parnu

  | Estonia

Estonia's Summer Capital. In summer Parnu can seem as if Tallinn had moved to the seaside. But this charming historic town has plenty to offer outside of peak season too.

Parnu Sights

Parnu is the number one seaside destination for Estonians. Sunseekers have come here for years. The town made the list of Russian Imperial resorts in the 1890s. Yet Parnu absorbs their number with grace, unlike some other Baltic Sea resorts. Situated in southwest Estonia just under two hours from the capital, Parnu is an easy stop on the way to Riga. For anyone driving between the Estonian and Latvian capitals, Parnu is the perfect place to break your journey. It's a great idea to slow down and spend a night here.

Parnu Tourism

Parnu isn't just a beach town. Parnu is a spa resort of international stature. Its spa hotels offer a full range of wellness and relaxation treatments. There is of course the long, almost-white sandy beach with its shallow waters. But the town offers much more. Parnu was the location of the first public reading of the Estonian Declaration of Independence in 1918. So the town holds a special place in Estonian history. Today you will find a monument to the event on the place where the theater stood, before a fire destroyed it in 1944. There's also a giant replica of the declaration itself.

Where to stay in Parnu

We have selected two spa hotels in Parnu, at 4 and 5 star level where you can select some special treatments from the spa menu or simply enjoy the spa's relaxation facilities. Once we start preparing your customized itinerary we will present our recommended options for you to select from.

Things to do in Parnu

As you are likely to only spend a night or two in Parnu, we suggest spending time in your hotel's spa, strolling around the town and along the beach.

What I love about Parnu...

“A favorite of 19th century German and Russian noblemen. Besides the locals, Parnu's quiet beaches and cute cafes remain a secret known only to the Finns and Germans who flock to its shores.”
