A fine example of whitewashed Cycladic architecture, Milos is also known for the sirma-type buildings that adorn many of its coastal villages. In the past, a sirma was a cave-like shed to keep a boat safe during bad weather. These buildings were gradually turned into residences and, now, some of them house rental apartments. Taking a stroll around them at sunset is sure to stay in your memory for a long time. If there's one thing you shouldn't miss during your trip to Milos is a boat trip around the island. Apart from the insanely turquoise waters you will enjoy in secluded beaches of unfathomable beauty, a cruise around Milos is the best way to marvel at natural sculptures made of lava, sea caves, and secret lagoons with crystal clear waters.
