Nobody knows if this relatively small city in northeastern Italy would have reached such heights of international fame if it hadn't been for William Shakespeare. The famous English playwright chose Verona as the setting for two of his plays - The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Romeo & Juliet. The latter has had lovestruck travelers from all over the globe flock to this charming Italian city for decades on end. Up to this day, Juliet's famed balcony is the most-visited attraction in Verona.
