Ravello is less crowded and more exclusive than nearby Positano and Amalfi, in no small part because Ravello is perched in the hills, 1,200 ft above sea level. Ravello isn't as convenient a base for the usual Amalfi Coast day trips, other than for scenic hikes, as its location can dramatically increase journey times. There are plenty of reasons to spend most of your time in Ravello, especially if you're staying at one of the luxury resort properties. Ravello's central piazza and the narrow alleys and streets surrounding it were made to be enjoyed and explored, while visits to the various gardens are a must.
