The site of the tragic MH17 crash is around 1,000 miles from the closest JayWay destination and as such there is no reason to postpone or cancel any travel plans to any of our destinations in Central & Eastern Europe.
Ukraine is a very large country and the regions controlled by pro-Russian rebels are in the very far east of the country, as far away as could be from where you would be traveling. The site of the crash is shown in the image below (from Google Maps).
If you need further reassurance that it is safe to travel to the region you can check your country’s State Department or equivalent’s travel warnings and you will find no alerts or warnings regarding any of the countries JayWay operates in. Here are the links for our most common countries of origin:
US State Department Travel Warnings
Canadian Government Travel Warnings
Australian Dept of Foreign Affairs Travel Advice
UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office Travel Advice
Should you be concerned about an escalation of some kind you can rest assured that every country you would travel to with us is either a member of NATO, the EU or both and protected by powerful allies, including the US.
