A truly relaxing destination. With gorgeous beaches and alluring landscapes, Ksamil is an ideal place to enjoy a laid-back vacation.
The pinnacle of the Albanian Riviera, Ksamil is a seasonal destination. It's best to visit in the summer, when you can take full advantage of the town's beaches. Located on the tip of Albania, within sight of Greece, Ksamil also offers a convenient starting point for a trip to Corfu. You can reach the island by ferry in less than an hour. Or you could fly into neighboring Corfu and start your exploration of Albania with Ksamil. The town itself is pretty simple. But the gorgeous beaches and the surrounding countryside are the real attractions. They're some of the best Albania has to offer. Besides the swimming on the coast you’ll find a beautiful peninsula with various bars. You can even take a boat to one of several nearby islands. Another great day trip we recommend from Ksamil is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Butrint, a stunning ancient Greek city established over 2,500 years ago.
Ksamil is the perfect destination if you’re looking to get some sun and have a low-key time out from traveling. The city and the surrounding area are ideal for slowing the pace of your vacation. You should give yourself a day or two to relax without worrying about anything but soaking up the sun and scenery. Take a dip in the sea, and enjoy delicious local food and drink. It’s fascinating to see this side of Albania. Ksamil has a different atmosphere from the larger cities or even the other destinations in the countryside. Visiting Ksamil is a great way to have a vacation within a vacation and recharge. Stop here before you get back to exploring the rest of this fascinating region.
What I love about Ksamil
Ksamil was the first stop on the #JayWayBalkans blogger trip in 2016. For many of the group it was their first experience of Albania. The warm welcomes, chilled beaches, AMAZING seafood, delicious wine and the impressive nearby archeological site of Butrint immediately turned them into raving fans, me included.
