Kiev is mix of past and present. Classical architecture surrounds high-end shops and colorful restaurants. The source of Eastern Slavic culture, Kiev still keeps a firm grip on history. This is one of the true highlights for traveling in Ukraine. Kiev's famous buildings include Saint Sophia Cathedral, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nestled in the hills, Kiev feels spread out and can be a bit of a challenge to take in if you’re trying do so on foot. But an excellent public transport system and very inexpensive taxis make getting around a breeze.
There’s no shortage of unique things to do in Kiev. You could tour the grounds of the opulent villa of former President Victor Yanukovych, complete with a huge collection of cars and a private zoo. Another must-see, the Monastery of the Caves, or Pechersk Lavra, is unlike any place else. This UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of a large complex of churches and chapels. Most striking is a series of underground caves where you can see mummified monks from the 11th century. It’s just one more thing that makes Kiev special.
"Our experience was truly outstanding--it was a pleasure to plan with your staff, and your creativity and thoughtfulness really resulted in a wonderful trip. We will remember the people you connected us with even more than the terrific locations."

Things to do in Kiev
A walking tour of Kiev's historic center is a must for understanding the past, and present, of this fascinating city but there's plenty to see beyond that. the UNESCO-listed Pechersk Lavra monastery complex is an essential part of your time in the city but two more recent episodes in the country's history deserve some exploration too. For the brave, a day trip to Chernobyl is a haunting experience and a visit to the mansion of recently deposed President Yanukovich will give some background to the injustice felt by those who took part in the country's Euromaidan Revolution in 2014. When we send you your customized itinerary you will be able to choose additional excursions to included in your vacation package or consider for adding later.

What I love about Kiev...
“I love Kiev's old streets and squares surrounded by chestnut trees, churches with golden cupolas and architectural masterpieces like Lavra and Podil. Kiev is the biggest and oldest city in Eastern Europe and has a lot to offer as a cosmopolitan capital.”
