Published , by

If you’re wondering where to travel in 2025 in Europe, you’ve come to the right place. We asked our local experts from all corners of the Old Continent to share their favorite destinations in Europe and the best time to visit each.

The result is this comprehensive list of fantastic places to visit in Europe, a valuable tool for anyone puzzled about where to travel in 2025 in Europe.

Where To Travel in 2025 in Europe

January in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic

A great way to start the new year is a relaxing getaway to one of the finest spa towns in Europe. Karlovy Vary has been popular for its thermal springs for centuries, with prominent people flocking to this bijou town to drink or plunge into its therapeutic waters.

Nowadays, Karlovy Vary is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers a wide range of luxury hotels and top-notch spa facilities, all in a fairytale-like setting, the perfect backdrop for your first trip of the year, before you continue on a quest to explore the rest of the Czech Republic.

Don’t miss spending a day at the town’s large outdoor thermal pool for a chance to soak in hot waters while catching breathtaking views of Karlovy Vary’s unique architecture and enchanting surroundings.

February in Valencia, Spain

February might not be a favorite month for travel but it’s probably the ideal time to visit European cities if you want to get a taste of authentic local life. For February 2025, we recommend a trip to Valencia, one of Spain’s most fascinating cities.

Due to Valencia’s mild winters, scarce rainfall, and warm temperatures compared to other big cities in Europe, a winter escape can never be a bad idea.

While there, you can stroll through its beautiful Old Town, admire the city’s strikingly modern architecture, and of course, taste one of the country’s most iconic dishes at its birthplace – Paella Valenciana, one of the most delicious dishes to try in Spain.

March in Andalusia, Spain

As winter gives way to spring, catch the first spring sun at one of Europe’s most celebrated corners: Andalusia, one of the top places to visit in Spain. This sunny region has no shortage of captivating cities, lovely towns, and picturesque villages to add to your Andalusia itinerary.

From orange-scented Seville, the very birthplace of Flamenco, to Cordoba with its quaint patios adorned by countless flower pots to the architectural masterpiece of the Alhambra in Granada, Andalusia with its distinct flavors, aromas, sounds, and sights promises a trip for all the senses.

April in Ljubljana, Slovenia or The Must-Sees of Central Europe

Whether as a standalone city break for a short stay or as part of a longer Slovenia itinerary or even a Northern Italy trip, Ljubljana is one of Europe’s hidden gems, waiting to be discovered.

With countless cultural treasures hiding within the walls of the city’s museums and galleries, stunning landscapes, unique culinary delights, and superb local wines, Ljubljana is one of the best European destinations to explore next April.

Alternatively, April might be the perfect month to explore the highlights of Central Europe, destinations that will definitely be packed later in spring or in the summer, which is Europe’s peak season.

From an itinerary across Central Europe’s imperial capitals – namely Prague, Vienna, and Budapest – to a quest to explore the beer culture of Munich at smaller-scale spring festivals that attract far fewer crowds than the famous Octoberfest, there’s no limit to the options offered by a region as diverse as Central Europe.

May in Noto, Italy

There’s no wrong time to visit Italy but May is the perfect month to explore the Baroque wonder of a town that is Noto in Sicily. This quintessentially Italian town looks like a film set with its incredible Baroque architecture and inescapable Dolce Vita vibes.

On the third Sunday of May, Noto’s central street, Via Nicolaci, transforms into a canvas of color as teams of young artists decorate the street with flower petals. The Baroque Flower Festival is a tradition that dates back to the 17th century and it’s worth timing your Sicily trip so as not to miss it.

June in Sardinia, Italy or Korcula, Croatia

Don’t blame us if we’re sticking to Italy for yet another month. We’re doing so for good reason. With its sparkling turquoise waters, quaint towns, and slow pace of life, Sardinia is a great place in Europe to spend your summer vacation.

However, if you plan your trip for July, August, or September, you won’t be alone as Italians and foreign tourists alike flock to the island. This is why we’re recommending planning your Sardinia trip in June instead.

Immerse yourself in the unparalleled ambiance of a Mediterranean island where life goes by slowly, the sun shines generously, and the inviting sea offers amazing opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, or simply lazing under the bright sun. This is Sardinia, one of the best places to visit in Italy.

Another island you can pick for your summer vacation is Croatia’s Korcula. With its UNESCO-listed historic center and emerald waters, Korcula is the ideal place for an early summer trip, as it gets quite packed in July, August, and September.

A remarkable event you can enjoy in Korcula is the traditional Moreska sword dance. Dating back hundreds of years, this special event takes place all year long. Yet, June’s seductively long days render Moresca the optimal after-dinner entertainment.

Although you can spend all your vacation relaxing in Korcula, we’d recommend opting for an island-hopping adventure across several Croatian Islands instead.

July in Porto, Portugal or Bilbao & San Sebastian, Spain

Dominating the Portuguese north, Porto is a city of many charms and one of the best places to visit in Portugal. Yet, its geographic location renders it prone to rainfall in any other season outside summer.

July is one of the driest months in Porto, while the long summer days will give you plenty of time to discover every nook and cranny of this fascinating destination.

From joining a boat trip along the calm waters of the Douro River to sipping exquisite Port wine with splendid views of the emblematic Luis I Bridge to catching one of the most memorable sunsets at the point where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean, Porto has many reasons to earn its place in your Portugal itinerary.

With similar weather conditions, Northern Spain’s Bilbao and San Sebastian in the Basque Country are ideal to visit in the summer, too. In fact, Porto, Bilbao, and San Sebastian could be combined in one and the same Spain and Portugal itinerary.

Laid-back Bilbao will amaze you with its authenticity, while the more cosmopolitan San Sebastian with its gorgeous beach and promenade is one of the most photogenic places you’ve ever laid eyes on and the perfect place in Spain to try mouthwatering local cuisine.

August in Kotor, Montenegro or Strasbourg, France

Although gaining in popularity, Kotor is still less crowded than other seaside destinations in Europe in August, the month when almost all Europeans plan their summer vacation by the sea. Even if you’re not a swimming fan, you’ll love Kotor for its quaintness and scenic views.

One more reason to visit Kotor in August is Boka Night, a lively festival that’s worth exploring during your Montenegro trip. During Boka Night, decorated boats cruise along the waters of Kotor’s harbor while, on land, music, parties, dance, and other special events are in full swing.

It can’t get more picturesque than Kotor

But if you want to go against the flow, head to a destination where everyone else is visiting in the winter. Known as the Capital of Christmas, Strasbourg boasts some of the best Christmas markets in Europe.

That said, Strasbourg is equally enchanting in the summer months when the great weather allows you to sit outdoors, take long waterside strolls or bicycle rides, and enjoy magical nights in a storybook setting.

Ideally, you should combine Strasbourg with a trip to Paris, for a chance to see the Eiffel Tower in all its summer glory.

September in Geneva, Switzerland or The Baltic States

September is the new August and this is why it’s best to refrain from visiting mainstream European destinations in early fall. Our suggestion for September 2025 is Geneva alongside a trip to other cities and towns in Switzerland.

Not only because Geneva is a gorgeous city that’s yet to be discovered by mass tourism but also because, in 2025, the first-ever Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix will be held on the crystal-clear waters of Lake Geneva between September 20 and 21.

If you’re wondering where to travel in 2025 in Europe, Geneva is perfect in every way

On the other hand, September is the ideal month to discover the underrated beauty of the Baltic States – Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

Graced with bijou capital cities that are beyond words pretty and featuring unspoiled natural wonders that can be easily explored on day trips due to these European countries’ small size, a journey across the Baltics guarantees an exciting yet relaxing experience in Europe.

October in Puglia, Italy

One of the finest months to travel, October brings us back to Italy. This time, the scenic region of Puglia takes center stage. Only recently discovered by foreign travelers, Puglia retains its authentic Italian flair.

With whitewashed villages that resemble the Greek Cyclades Islands, centuries-old olive groves, vineyards, and wineries, delicious food – some of the best in Italy – based on local produce, and, of course, countless picturesque towns dotting the entire region, Puglia is its own universe, one that carries the very essence of Italy and Europe as a whole.

You can spend a lazy week in Puglia or embark on an adventurous road trip; the choice is yours.

November in Crete. Greece

No list of where to travel in 2025 in Europe would be complete without at least one entry dedicated to Greece.

A traditionally popular destination, Greece is extremely busy during the spring, summer, and early autumn months. Therefore, visiting Greece in November is your best shot at experiencing the country’s authentic side.

Our suggestion for November 2025 is Crete, the largest Greek Island. Even though the sea temperature may or may not be ideal for swimming, the pleasantly warm weather is perfect for engaging in outdoor activities and exploring the island’s several ancient ruins, historical sites, rugged mountains, and picture-perfect villages.

After all, Crete is a lot more than its beautiful beaches. It’s like Greece in miniature, a whole world of beauty, rich history, and local culture to explore during a well-planned itinerary.

When the summer crowds are gone, that’s the best time to live unforgettable experiences in Crete

December in Warsaw & Lublin, Poland

The end of the year is usually dedicated to one of Europe’s Christmas wonderlands and 2025 won’t be an exception. The only difference is that, this time, we’re recommending Poland, a country you might not think of for your Christmas escape to Europe.

Less crowded than heavyweights like Vienna or Munich but equally festive, Warsaw is one of the best capital cities to celebrate the holiday season and among the prettiest places to visit in Poland.

For an even more intimate Christmas atmosphere, head to Lublin, a lesser-known Polish town that’s worth exploring during your Poland tour.

Speaking of which, your Polish adventure will have you walking in the footsteps of the protagonists of A Real Pain, a top-rated movie that’s sure to inspire your next trip to Poland.
