Antalya is a popular destination and s a hub for all sorts of travelers and home of one of the main airports in the Mediterranean region. The city has a reputation for being laid-back and easy to navigate, with its compact old city containing most of the sites of historic interest and a tram line that stretches down a palm tree-lined street around the city. Traces of Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Seljuk empires still are visible in the ruins scattered throughout the city, all mashed together with the distinct look of modern Turkey. The Roman-era Hadrian’s Gate is the most prominent ruin, serving as an entryway to the old city.

Day 1 - Arrival in Antalya

After your flight arrives in Antalya, a driver will meet you at the airport to bring you to your accommodation. The journey from the airport lasts about 50 minutes.

Stroll Along the Sea

Suggestion to explore on your own

Spend your first night taking in the striking seaside skyline of Antalya from the Konyaalti Promenade, a palm tree-lined walkway that skirts the water. The urban fabric of the city comes right up to the sea, so this is a great way to get a feel for both the city itself and the Mediterranean vibe of the area. Enjoy the parks and cafés on the promenade as you enjoy an unforgettable Antalya sunset.

One of the easiest beaches to access from the Antalya city center is Lara Beach, a sandy stretch of the Mediterranean that is just east of the old city. Though much of the beach is owned  by private resorts, part of the beach is still public and accessible to everyone. The water is shallow and turquoise, making it a relaxing place to take a dip during the hotter months. Though the beach can get crowded by midday, it’s still a lovely place for a break.

Bodrum is one of the most popular seaside destinations on the Turkish Riviera, where sunbathers and yachts share space along the turquoise coastline. Ruled over the centuries by the Greeks, Romans, Persians, Crusaders, and Ottomans, among others, history is still visible throughout the Bodrum peninsula, including at the well-preserved Theater of Halicarnassus and the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the wonders of the ancient world. And yet, Bodrum is a thoroughly modern city, where the glitterati of Istanbul are as likely to be spotted as international beach lovers. With this kind of coastline, there is something here for everyone who loves the sea.
